Imperial Furniture 1.0
by Amajor7

DV by ThreeD mit freundlicher Genehmigung von Amajor7

Introduction

Decorate your house with all kinds of items. It includes a range of furniture but also candles, weapon racks, chests, carpets, tapestry and much more. It is not an extension of the in-game furniture module designs that place furniture in pre-defined locations, these items can be placed anywhere you want, even on the streets. The items can be used as expected; you can sleep in a bed, sit on a chair and even turn off the lights.

Background

Damien and Mischa Larkin have recently moved to the Imperial City from Anvil. Damien is a carpenter selling furniture and other items for your home. Mischa is more interested in plants. They have a store just north of the Imperial City where they sell their goods.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usage

Let's position some furniture

Step 1. Once you have bought an item from the store bring it to your home and enter the area where you want to place the item. Drop the item from your inventory by clicking on it while holding the shift key.
Step 2. If you see a hammer fall to the ground please read the Large Items Section (A). If you see the actual furniture fall to the ground, read the Small Items Section (B).

A. Large Items

The hammer that just fell to the ground will be the marker tool you need to setup the objects in the right place. Moving large objects using havok is difficult and frustrating, thereby a marker is first used so you can easily mark the general area where you want the furniture placed. You can move the hammer by using the Grab key, it is by default mapped to "z".

Rotate the constructor hammer to set the angle of the item and just activate the constructor once you are happy with the placement. This will assemble the furniture at your desired spot.
You want the hammer head away from you and the handle pointing towards you for the most natural positioning of most items.

Example: If you want to place a wall item, put the head against the wall and point the handle towards you at a 90 degree angle from the wall and activate. You can then continue positioning via the options menu (see below). Don't try to lift the marker in the air when mounting wall and ceiling items. Always let the marker stay on the floor and activate it there.

The Options Menu

You can always access the Options Menu by activating the furniture.

Item Functions

The items can be used as expected. A bed can be slept in and you can sit on a chair. Candles can be turned on and off via the options menu.
Always consider locking furniture when you are happy with where you placed it.

B. Small Items

When dropping smaller items you will not have to use a marker. The actual item will appear on the floor in front of you.

The Options Menu

Just activate the object to access the Options Menu.

Item Functions

Some furniture can't be used until they are locked. Some objects can't be locked since it is generally not needed.
Always consider locking most furniture when you are happy with where you placed it.

Note!

If you tamper with furniture in your home and then load your last save game again, you might find that the furniture you tampered with is gone even though you never saved after touching the furniture. This is due to the way Oblivion handles game loads to save time, it does not clean out the memory and start fresh unless you close down the client completely.

Don't worry if this happens, just quit Oblivion and reload your game and the furniture is back where you left it. You will never really lose the furniture even though it might look that way. To avoid this "issue", try not to save and load too much while in areas that you furnished.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upgrading From a Previous Version (0.98 or older)

If you want to upgrade Imperial Furniture to a new version please do the following.

1. Make sure you have no Imperial Furniture items in your inventory. If you do, go to your home and place all the furniture properly in your home.
2. Save your game away from any decorated home and away from the Imperial Furniture store. It is always best if you are not in the zones/cells being altered by the upgrade. Close down Oblivion.
3. Delete the am7furniture folder under data/meshes/furniture/.
4. Delete the am7furniture folder under data/textures/furniture/.
5. Delete the am7books folder under /data/textures/menus/.
3. Unzip the new version into your Oblivion/Data/ folder. Overwrite any old existing files.
4. Start up Oblivion, load your save game.
5. Visit your homes to make sure everything and all items are still there is in order. Generally upgrading should not cause you to lose any furniture if you follow these directions.

Music

If you prefer to use the default Oblivion music inside the store just delete the following files:

/music/special/AMajor7_ Northern_Lights.mp3
/music/special/AMajor7_My_ Anvil_ Home_ Part_ 1.mp3
/music/special/AMajor7_My_ Anvil_ Home_ Part_ 2.mp3

These files are optional and can be added or removed as you like.

A check is now made to make sure only the player can access the options menu of furniture. This is to prevent NPCs from accessing it by mistake.
You can now click-hold the container and candle items in your inventory to drop them, without running into issues.
All unused items are now moved to a "trashcan" cell. This might increase performance on slower machines in areas that have been heavily decorated over time.
Damien is now set to essential since he does travel in the wild at times. This is to assure he does not get killed during his trips.
	Added wooded coffin.
	Added 3 wall lamps.

It is no longer necessary to activate container before they are fully usable as containers.
Imperial Chest is now full havok, like the jewelry box and it can be locked in place.
Missing Item problem hopefully fixed permanently now. It was nothing serious but it had to do with Damien taking ownership of light objects in his store that he then decided to sell.
